It is the duty of the healthcare professionals to provide quality services to the people at right 
time. They also have to use government funds for providing effective services to the people. In 
this paper, we are analyzing unethical act done by the Dr. Thompson in a detailed way. We are 
also analyzing the various aspects related to the case in a detailed way. 
2.0 Body 
1. Analyzing the case against Dr. Thompson 
During the period of 2006 to 2010, Dr. Thompson used Medicare, (National insurance program 
controlled and managed US government) for gaining the personal advantage. He used Medicare 
program beneficiaries for getting the fund from the Medicare. It is the responsibility of Medicare 
to provide financial assistance to registered members, based on their medical condition. Dr. 
Thompson used the Medicare scheme for earning income. He reported to the Humana that about 
387 Medicare beneficiaries are down with a rare disease called “Ankylosing Spondylitis”. As per 
the report of Department of Justice (2016) more than $2.1 million funds were paid by Medicare 
for managing the problem faced by the 387 Medicare beneficiaries.
