You are required to prepare a 1000 word written assignment regarding a social, cultural o
environmental determinant of health

Photography helps us look at things from different perspectives, to reflect, communicate
and express ourselves in a way that goes beyond words. The accessibility and creativity
of photography makes it an ideal tool to promote thinking and learning about the
determinants of health
You are required to take one digital photograph which for you illustrates the social o
cultural or environmental determinants of health. You MUST not take photos of any

incriminating or illegal activities or take photographs of individuals without thei

You are required to include this photograph on the front page of your assessment.
In your essay, you should
Outline how your photograph illustrates a social, cultural or environmental determinant
of health. Make sure that you outline how this determinant of health influences health
status (suggest 500 words +/- 10%)
Briefly describe THREE (3) approaches that could be used to improve health status
and equity with regards the determinant of health you have portrayed in you
photograph and described in part 1. (suggest 500 words +/- 10%)
Reflect on how the process of taking the photograph helped you thinking about you
determinant of health. (200 words)
You will need to research some additional information for this assessment. You must
support your writing with references from the literature. You should include 6 appropriate
peer reviewed journal references and two web based references from organisations like
the World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations (UN) or the Australian Institute of
Health and Welfare (AIHW). You will use APA referencing in this essay.

e "staged" - a collection of images that represent your determinant of health. Your photo
must not come from the internet. We are not assessing your photography, but the way
you reflect on the photo in the essay.
