Tobacco use, obesity and physical inactivity result in spoiling of health due to there being intoxication of body organs. It results in several problems like cholesterol, diabetes and even cancer. Some of these problems impact certain groups mainly due to genetics reasons as well as lifestyle reasons. This is becoming a growing concern for the society. It creates reasons for a change being required through the spread of awareness and promotion of healthy eating habits and active lifestyle.
Obesity has several repercussions and childhood obesity leads to causation of a poor and unhealthy life. It leads to several problems in the future, as individuals have to then deal with several diseases caused due to an imbalanced level of nutrition and an inactive lifestyle. Obesity and tobacco related mo
idity rates have been increasing for the past several years and so if statistics show that there is a progress and decrease in the rate of obesity then it would surprise me for sure.
The most important areas to focus on in case of public health would then be alcoholism during pregnancy. Fetal alcohol syndrome refers to the various set of physical and mental problems or deficiencies that can arise due to excessive consumption of alcohol. The deformation occurs in the fetus itself and there has been no cure found to this. Alcohol can cross the fetal ba
iers and can lead to poisoning of the fetus leading to infecting and affecting the growth of the fetus. The fetus does not gain weight or nutrition which can lead to several deformations (Jones KL, Smith DW, Ulleland CN, et al, 1963).
Doctors recommend pregnant women to abstain from alcohol. The reason for this is that even a moderate quantity of alcohol can increase the chances of physical and mental deformations in the fetus. Drinking by itself is harmful since it results in several problems. Moreover in case of a pregnancy it does result in harming not just the mother but also the child.
