Some elements of athletic sports culture are:
Overtraining: In order to increase their strength and performance athletes tend to indulge in over training. This is the resultant of poor performance, part of punishment or overestimating one’s strength. This might result in fatigue and loss of stamina, which again is responsible for putting pressure on an athlete.
Injury (Risk, pain and Injury in sport, KPE, 17 November 2021): Any small or severe injury is also a challenge for mental health. The time it takes to recover from the injury is the dominant factor, which makes impact. It hinders the smooth performance and getting back to old schedule early. 
Competition: Winning or losing is a part of game but rising above the challenges of the game requires not only physical strength but psychological strength as well. The results (negative) of competition affect the perceptions and competence of the athletes and put them at the risk of mental struggle (Vallerand & Losier, 1999).
