Two major utilities of oral practices for Africans can be listed as transmission of history in its actual form and transmission of African arts and values through the ages. Oral practices have enabled the preservation of the history of Negro people. It has helped preserve their feelings and traditions over time. In addition, it represents the single most accurate representation of the Negro culture and the evolution of their fear, oppression, struggle and hope through the ages.
Oral practices have also served as a means of transmitting the African arts to the world. The folk songs, music and rhythm represent the cultural beliefs and artistic excellence of the Negro people. It serves not only as an aesthetic tradition that needs to be valued but also serves as a form of liberation and discovery of higher purposes of life (Moore, 2018).
