Task Description:In LING248 this semester we have considered the core linguistic features of four broad genres of computer medicated communication (CMC) - compressed language (SMS, tweet, and hashtag), email, blogs, and image-macro memes. For this assignment, we want you to consider how language use has altered and developed withinONEof these CMC genres. To do this, you will compareat least two (2) setsof early and newer examples of your chosen CMC genre, analysing how, and suggesting why, the linguistic features (including linguistic devices such as hashtags) in the genre have changed. As part of your analysis, you should consider potential shifts in the digital literacy skills of audiences as well as societal and technological factors that may have contributed to these changes.

Introduction
Language is an evolving entity. It does not stay the same over time in all its forms. CMC or computer mediated language is no different. In fact, computer mediated language has evolved at a greater pace than other form of communication. Blogs have seen many changes as well. As a communication form that is highly personal on one end and impersonal on another, blogs have developed around various topics based on people’s personal interest.
In this report we shall analyse the evolution of food blogs as a CMC over a period of 4-5 years. In order to make this analysis, we shall assess 4 food blogs, 2 from 2014, and 2 from 2018-19. The food blogs shall be analysed for their structure, content and language and how it has changed over the years. Following the analysis we shall observe the reasons for these changes and conclude with a summary of the observations.

Our focus here, are food blogs. Food blogs have become very common in the recent years, especially due to a surge in ideas of home cooking, healthy eating and diet consciousness. More and more bloggers have taken to the internet to make food blogging their main job. So food bloggers range from enthusiasts, to extra money makers, to those who blog full time in order to earn a living (Gill, Nowson & Oberlander, 2009).
Food bloggers, since they are na
owed to food enthusiasts display certain unique linguistic features (Diemer, Brunner & Schmidt, 2014). These are discussed below
2. Linguistic features of food blogs
2.1- Food Lingo-
Food blogs use language and terms unique to food items. So, food bloggers are usually discussing foods that they create or foods that they try. The dominant theme of food blogs is naturally, food and thus related words are in use.
