Running head: GALLUP’S STRENGTHS FINDER ASSESSMENT 1
GALLUP’S STRENGTHS FINDER ASSESSMENT 2
John R. Summerhill
Gallup’s Strengths Finder Assessment
Walden University
Overview
Each individual has a specific set of characteristics that help in defining his strengths and personality. In the work by (Girard, Hett, and Schunk XXXXXXXXXXit is discussed that the development of the individual characteristics holds importance for the shaping of the personality and social structure of the individuals. The personal traits and characteristics of the individuals have different aspects inclusive of variations in the strengths and weaknesses that can be used for the personal growth and at the professional front. The inclusion of Gallup framework is useful in the assessment of the strengths of the individual, as through the identification of the same, an individual can
ing about changes in the daily routines.
Top Five identified Themes
Through the Gallup’s assessment I was able to understand the areas wherein lies my greatest strengths. The process of undertaking the Gallup’s Strength Finder assessment was based on mixed feelings, as at one end I wanted to understand what my talents are and also on the other hand I was apprehensive about the possible contradictions in my belief and assessment results. Harms, XXXXXXXXXXhas discussed in his work that the inclusion of Gallup’s Strength Finder is helpful in acknowledging the precepts of positive psychology leading to motivational dimension. The results of the assessment revealed that adaptability, responsibility, empathy, belief, and deliberativeness are my signature themes. The identified strengths are traits of my personality that I have been familiar with except for the strength defined as deliberative.
Challenge and Application of Strengths
With respect to the identified strengths, I feel that I am well-versed with my sense of adaptability, responsibility, and belief. The same can be observed through the incident that occu
ed in the first year of my college. I was in a group of 5 team members and we were assigned a topic based on the cultural diversity. We all had to gather our personal experiences and share the same. The project required each one of us to spend a week in a culturally different setting (family) starting from having the same meals as the family to following their daily routine. It was a big challenge for me since I have always been in the same traditional environment of my family. However, in order to complete the project, I encouraged myself to adapt to the su
oundings for a week. I felt responsible to do so, as I was a participant in the study. Thus, my ability to adapt and be responsible helped me sail through the challenge of getting up at 4 am in the morning, whereas my usual time to get up in the morning is only past 9 am. Additionally, I have a habit of munching on snacks now and then. However, during the stay with this family I was supposed to have my last meal of the day before sunset. I appreciated their cultural values and put my belief in there to go through the daily activities as they did. Thus, through the application of top three strengths I was able to complete the project without any serious fall backs and also was named the best performer in the same.
Adding Value
Scholar Practitione
Through the completion of the assessment, I can conclude that these strengths can be helpful for me in a number of ways. They add value to my overall understanding about my capabilities. Dik et al XXXXXXXXXXhighlights that the inclusion of the strengths in the development of career can help the individual make progress in the right direction. Keeping this in consideration, I feel that the application of adaptability will help me in taking lessons and projects as per the availability for I can adapt to different situations easily. Additionally, the inclusion of responsible behaviour will make me a prefe
ed choice of lecturers and peers while assigning the projects.
Cu
ent/Future Organizations
Rigoni and Asplund XXXXXXXXXXverify through their works that there are as many as 70% of the total employees who are engaged at work as managers in one or the other way. There is a constant need for managers that have defined strengths and the ability to extend their working processes in a productive manner. Thus, the identified strengths inclusive of being responsible, empathetic, and deliberate can help me in keeping a good management stand in the industry. By being empathetic I can understand the emotions of others and also help them through the situations using right tone and right words. Additionally, by being deliberative I would be able to manage the risks and steer clear from dangers by taking care of my su
oundings at the workplace.
Pursuing Activities Differently
Since I have realised that I am quite adaptable, I will try and take on new challenges. I will try to participate in more activities and also look for ways to gain assignments in regions outside my home country. The ability to do so will be useful to me in the long run, as my ability to understand different market conditions will get enhanced.
Cu
ent Motivations
The cu
ent motivational aspects that push me to dedicate myself in pursuing my degree revolve around the desire to learn and attain knowledge. The fact that my degree is based on the public betterment further encourages me to gain as much as I can from the experienced faculty. The possibility of practical activities and projects is yet another motivational factor, as it allows for a real-life experience of the situations that I might face as a professional. I feel that my strength of being empathetic also plays a crucial role in motivating me for the excellency in the field.
Personal Goals and Vision
My personal goal is to establish a way in which even the remotest of areas can get care and health facilities. Though I am still not sure if I want to be a health education professional or a public health professional or both, I simply aim to be the best in whatever I do. My vision is to make health a priority for all through the inclusion of empathy and belief in healthcare systems.
