Introduction
The glory of the up gradation and globalization of modern society includes the continual development of health and social care also. The adoption of numerous policies and governance made the overall sector more diverse and versatile. Corporate and clinical governance is the most known governance that can be found in any of the sectors of development (Desai and Chandawarkar, 2018). Here the clinical governance is the major part of the concern for this study. Generally, clinical governance is associated with the betterment of the quality of the service along with the amelioration of the condition of patients in any health care system. In this part of the work, a hospital has been chosen as an organization around which all the discussion, critiques, and outcomes are being evolved. The hospitals are being considered as a core center of any health care management and in discussing the phenomena of the quality of service and needs of any patients, the hospital consists of a huge set of evidence that is needed to be concerned. All the approaches of clinical governance are systematic and measured. To establish the link and to justify all the facts of the concerned topic of clinical governance a specific board paper has been chosen as a special part of this discussion. In this assignment the organization has been chosen, a community hospital. A board paper has also been selected as a part of this discussion to link all the issues and topics with that particular paper. “Implementation of Clinical Governance in Hospitals: Challenges and keys for Success’’, this particular paper has been chosen as a sample board paper for this specific assignment (Mousavi, et al., 2014).
The topic for this assignment and the board paper for this assignment have been chosen after a huge set of considerations. The challenges that can be faced by a hospital after implementation of the clinical governance and the success of that process are also being discussed in that particular board paper. To build up a link and to make the whole discussion more clear the board paper has been chosen properly. To improve the quality of the care the implication of clinical governance has been adopted by the health care centers. In order to provide a better quality of the service all the effective steps have been adopted by the concerned authority. For the discussion, the hospital has been chosen and all the essential points have been discussed with the proper references. Hospital is one of the diverse health care organizations and a proper judgmental environment can be seen in the management of the hospital hence the discussion of the impact and the implementation of the clinical governance will be apt in that environment.
Section one: governance
Clinical governance is a special continuity of the NHS to develop and upgrade the quality of the patient's health (Phillips, et al., 2017). The government has taken a few serious steps for the management of the social and health care system and the initiative of clinical governance seems the most important step among them. To reduce the mortality rate of pediatric cardiac surgery the cumulative approach of the government along with the NHS was remarkable and those initiatives resulted in the idea of the formation of clinical governance. Governance results in the organizational activity transparent and accountable. In a healthcare organization, it is needed to be more practical and organized. Hence the implication of the clinical governance in any health care organization is to be considered. And throughout this study all the sides of this governance and its possible outcomes have been discussed widely.
Principles and pillars of the governance and importance for the health and social care organization
The term clinical governance is generally associated with the continual improvement of the quality of the service of the healthcare system (Mohaghegh, et al., 2016). Improvement of public health status has become one of the most important fundamental needs for modern society. In the case of the implementation of this clinical governance, it is equally important to know the pillars of clinical governance. There are 7 pillars of clinical governance (Limb, et al., 2017). All the pillars are being discussed below
iefly.
1. Clinical effectiveness and research: This pillar of clinical governance works as a medium of collecting the best available data and research to provide the best care to the patients. This method always applies the collected data based practice in the field of health care and treatment. The standard guidelines and information are being used here in clinical care under the audience of clinical governance. In order to get new information in case of new research all the data and guidelines are being imposed to improve the process of treatment and clinical care.
2. Risk management: This risk management process has engaged with the guidelines and methods of analysis and understanding of those guidelines. The management process also works to reduce the degree of risk among the patients and the staff. This involves in the sense and warns in case of reducing the rate of the accident. The risk management team also associates with the analysis of previous accidents and mistakes. Evaluating those mistakes the management team makes the necessary decisions for the organization. They identify the risk and try to minimize the risk with the proper analysis.
3. Clinical audit: the process of an audit makes a design to identify the information and updated method to develop the strong structure of the organization. The main intention of the audit is to improve the quality of the service by providing intense care to the patients. It identifies the collected data and compares those data with the existing data and the variation is being recorded. With the comparison of those data it generally evaluates the quality of the care and service of the healthcare sector. In reviewing the documents and the previous history of the patient the multiple sectorial response lists is being prepared by this clinical audit pillar.
4. Education and training: Education and training is the basic need for all the staff and workers of the health care sectors. Here education and training are other pillars of clinical governance. To perform the job well and to maintain the capacity of the healthcare sector the need for proper training and education is mandatory. Proper training results in more engagement of the staff towards the job. In the case of the engagement of the staff with the associate job it is needed to complete the proper training course or the diplomas course for the particular domain.
5. Information technology: the implementation of information technology provides an extra degree of advancement. It helps in keeping the data secure. The management of the data with proper security increases the trust issue of the patients. The encrypted data helps in storing the device and is easy to retrieve (Hartzband, 2019).
6. Patient and public involvement: in keeping the service continuing and flexible the proper involvement of the patient is needed. Proper feedback and the review of the patients is an important part in the case of the development of any organization. Here in the case of clinical governance, this particular pillar indicates the engagement of the public with the organization and helps in resolving all the issues that are mentioned by the patients.
7. Staff management: the staff management system helps in making sure that all the staff is well trained. The staff management system maintains the issues, activity, practice of the staff. And the well-maintained staffs are responsible for the proper care and good service in the health care center.
Section two: Organization
In this particular part of the discussion a hospital has been chosen. The community hospital is being considered as the perfect place for this assessment. The continuous development of the patient’s health and the up-gradation of the quality of public health is one of the major parts of concern of this study. Community hospitals are considered as the primary center of health care. Here the community hospital in the UK that has been taken for this discussion mainly deals with all types of patients with different health issues. The average capacity of the hospital is moderately high. The infrastructure is also much developed here. The geographical location of the hospital is almost in the middle of the town. Hence the communication and the transportation facilities are very good there.
The board paper is dealing with the various strategies and consequences of clinical governance at the hospital. Here in this case the board paper is emphasizing the process of the implementation of clinical governance among the health care centers. The study suggests that clinical governance acts as a
idge between the managerial and clinical services of any healthcare center in case of improving the quality of the service (Leroux, McPherson and Richardson, 2018). The involvement of the staff in the service indicates the quality of training. A higher quality of training results in a higher degree of service and care. In the hospital, there is an immense need...
