Knowledge and Understanding

· Identify the needs for academic rigour and self-development and effective learning strategies

Formative Assessment

Working in small groups students will identify a role “cluster” and the required knowledge, skills and attributes required for these roles

Summative Assessment

Students will be required to complete a SWOT analysis with accompanying narrative.

The purpose of the SWOT analysis is to enable the student to find out:

· what they are most adept at (their strengths)

· The opportunities available to them to achieve their goals. Students will be expected to

· Weaknesses or threats that may hinder them from achieving their goals.

It will also help the student to explore the many roles they could fulfil after they graduate and think about the possible careers they may follow.

Deadlines

Work must be submitted through the Moodle site, the deadline for submission is 13.00hrs.

Late submissions will not be accepted

Format

· Coursework can be submitted as a PDF or word document

· Font must be one of the following:

o Times, size 11

o Arial, size 11

o Palatino, size 11

o Geneva, size 11

· Predominant letter style to be Plain Text, using lower case with upper case for Initial letters.

· Double Spaced

· Margins: 3.0 cm approx.

· Page numbers: to be provided centrally, at the bottom of the page.

· The file must be saved using candidate number e.g XXXXXXXXXXdocx.

Assessment Criteria

You are required to choose a contemporary area of health and social care change to focus your report on, and apply the principles and theories of change management.

· There is one element of assessment with 100% weighting and 40% pass mark

· Assessments will be marked according to the school specific marking criteria rubric for level 4 study. This is available in the assessment folder of the modules VLE site (Moodle).

· Assessment word limit: 3000 words

· Tables, diagrams, reference lists are not included in the word limit. In-text citations are included in the word limit.

· Appendices are for additional relevant information. Appendices must be used appropriately and essential information placed within the text.

· Ensure referencing meets LSBU requirements (refer to LSBU referencing guide available on the library website)

· Ensure you are familiar with university guidelines on plagiarism and how to avoid it.

· Use Turnitin to check your similarity score prior to full submission

Draft submission

Guidance below taken from ‘Reading Draft Coursework Policy’:

1. You may submit a single draft to the module co-ordinator either:

· An outline of the broad structure of the intended assessment (no more than one page)

2. Draft material will not be reviewed for second or third submissions – it is expected that the feedback from prior submission combined with a remedial tutorial should be sufficient.

3. You may not submit draft material within two weeks of the final submission date (or for DDS your extended date)

4. Staff will not give any indication of expected mark or outcome.

Content of assignment guidance

You should complete a SWOT analysis using a template. The SWOT analysis template is not included in your word limit. All literature should be referenced correctly.

The accompanying narrative needs to detail the following elements:

Introduction (suggested word limit 500)

· Outline your general understanding of the assignment and introduce the key areas you will be covering.

· Present you objectives for completing your SWOT analysis

Section 1 – SWOT analysis (suggested word limit 1000)

· Introduce your SWOT analysis and the process you followed to create your personalised template.

· Embed your SWOT analysis template in the assignment.

· Discuss the key findings of each section of your SWOT analysis.

Section 2 – Outcome of SWOT analysis (suggested word limit 1000)

· Develop your SMART action plan to present the goals identified from the SWOT analysis.

· Discuss the opportunities and threats to achieving your goals, and measures you will put in place to ensure success

Conclusion (suggested word limit 500)

· Restate your main arguments, making links back to the purpose of this assignment and your SWOT analysis
