Health Information Technology (HIT) is applied to health and healthcare industry for the management of health information by the means of computerized systems and other technology tools.
Guidelines for Electronic E-mail in Healthcare
With the change in communication systems, e-mails have proven to be effective information system even between patients and doctors. However, as argued by Sheikh, Sood and Bates (2015), certain guidelines and limitations have to be followed.
· E-mails has set the platform for the formal communication system when it comes to back and forth communication; however, this should not be used for urgent matters.
· Sensitivity of the subject should be considered such as patients with report of HIV may ca
y sensitive information.
· An automatic reply needs to be setup.
· Anger or sarcastic tone is to be avoided.
