Personality factors associated with social media use
	According to numerous personality theories, several personality traits and variables have an impact on how people utilize social media sites. I will concentrate on two theoretical stances in my response: the characteristic stance and the purpose stance.
· Trait perspective: The trait perspective of personality focuses on identifying the enduring patterns of behavior, emotion, and cognition that distinguish individuals. In the context of social media use, several personality traits have been associated with different patterns of social media use. For example, individuals who are high in extraversion are more likely to use social media to connect with others, share experiences, and engage in social activities (Jami Pour & Taheri, 2019). On the other hand, individuals who are high in neuroticism may use social media as a coping mechanism to deal with negative emotions. Overall, the trait perspective can help us understand why different individuals use social media in different ways and for different purposes.
· Motive perspective: The motive perspective of personality focuses on the goals and needs that drive behavior. In the context of social media use, two motives that have been linked to social media use are the need for social connection and the motive for self-presentation. The need for social connection is a fundamental motive that drives social media use, as individuals seek to maintain their social relationships, seek emotional support, and belong to a social group. The motive for self-presentation is another motive that drives social media use, as individuals seek to present a positive and attractive image of themselves and gain social approval and validation.
