Research Reports should be 3,000-3,500 words in length.

The broad range of movements for this project can include, but are not limited to, the following topical areas:

Religious or Faith Based

Ethnic and/or Nationalist

Rights Based

You are welcome to propose an alternative topic area, but you should have had this approved by your tutor before you submit your Research Proposal.

If you change topicsbetween your Research Proposal and Research Report, you must have the written approval of the unit convener.

Your Research Report mustaddress the following elements:

  • Project Title
  • Table of Contents
  • Introduction (including a summary of your project, and any hypothesis or predictions you had for the project outcomes)
  • Literature Review (i.e., a substantialcritical literature review of the scholarlyliterature related to your topic)
  • Research question(s) (i.e., that your project has attempted to answer)
  • Methodology and Methods (i.e., your theoretical framework and methods for collection and analysis of the data that you have used toaddress your research question)
  • Findings and analysis (i.e., the data you collected and your interpretation, drawing on your theoretical framework and using your chosen analytical methods, of that data)
  • Conclusion/Directions for future research (i.e., your final answer(s) to your research question(s), based on your analysis, and anyimportant related questions raised or left unanswered by your project)

Your Research Report reports on the development, conduct and outcomes of the original primary research project that you carried out during the semester, ideally as proposed in your research proposal. "Original primary research" means thatyour researchproject must have been one thatwas not centrally reliant on secondary source material (i.e., other scholars' previous research) for its findings. What you are creating in your Research Reportis a new, original scholarly source.Attendance at lectures and participation in tutorials are highly recommended as these sessions will be focused, throughout the semester, on scaffolding the requirements and expectationsfor the Research Proposal and Research Report as well as the conductyour actual research project that these assignments refer to.
