Assignment 2: Presentation
1
Introduction
Maths plays a crucial role in development of the child.
There are various concepts that a child is taught during his early days that includes knowledge of shape, numeracy and other such concepts.
This assignment deals with the concept of numeracy that will be taught to the students of the age group of 5-8.
The basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division will be taught to the students.
Basic knowledge of mathematics is of prime importance for a child. A child should be clear in his basics that would enable him to excel in his career. The basic concepts of maths includes shapes, numbers and others. Numbers is one of the most important part of maths as its forms the base for development of a child. A child having a strong grip on numbers is more likely to excel in future. This assignment deals with imparting knowledge of numeracy to children, especially of the age group of 5-8. The basics of multiplication and division are taught to the students at this age.

Numeracy and maths skills
It is the ability of an individual to apply the concepts of maths in real life situations.
It involves basic understanding of the numbers, counting, measuring, and identifying patterns and others.
It is required across all age group and i
espective of the profession an individual is in.
It includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
In simple words, numeracy means the knowledge of numbers. In modern world, theoretical knowledge is not sufficient. One has to be capable enough to apply the theoretical knowledge in real life situation. Therefore, the concept of using numeracy in real life situation has to be imbibed in a child from the beginning stages of learning. The children are taught counting, measurement and identification of pattern through use of images, videos and fun learning. Numeracy can be better learnt through fun learning. This has increased the importance of play schools across the globe. It also leads to arousal of interest among students who believe that maths is difficult.
3
Learning experience that showcases the maths concept chosen
The child undergoes through a number of learning concept before becoming well acquainted with the concept of numeracy
During my childhood, it was my learning experience that photos play a crucial role in remembering the concepts of numeracy
Showing images of cartoon and then teaching the concept of numeracy will be helpful in improving the knowledge base of the child.
There are various modes to teach a child about numbers. However, the most effective method of imparting the knowledge of numeracy is through use of pictures. The child is able to grasp the concept in an effective manner and is able to retain the information for a long time. During my childhood days, it was my personal experience that information portrayed through images are remembered for a long time. The pictures that interest the child should be used for this purpose. I use my learning experience during childhood to ensure that the child is able to grasp the concepts with ease.
