ent Organizational Structure
GWA Group Limited is a leading Australian Company dealing the business of building fixtures and fitting to
household and premise of commercial unit. There are many sales and distribution offices of GWA Group Limited in
Australia. There is also a
anch office of this company in New Zealand . This company is ASX 200 index of listed
company of Australia ("GWA Group Limited – Australia’s leading supplier of building fixtures and fittings", n.d.).
There are two main business divisions of GWA Group Limited. These two divisions are GWA Bathrooms & Kitchen
and GWA Door & Access Systems. These two divisions are in Australia. Divisions of GWA Group Limited focus on
the target market segment. GWA Group Limited provides its services with a centralized information system
platform for business and accounting information management. The
anches, divisions, sales and distribution
offices are connected with centralized information system. This centralized information system also has a
accounting information system that manages the accounting functions and stores the sales and marketing data
with revenue details. The central information system is accessed by its all sales and distribution offices to post the
data related with sales and distribution by the help of accounting information system. The Centralized control of
applications of accounting system on the platform of information system provides the fast realization of various
sales and purchase orders of the products of the company.
2. Operational Problems
The operational structure of the company is centralized on the platform of information system and technology (P,
1999). The communication of information either related with account receivables and other business activities
depend on the availability of information system and data to company all offices. The operational inefficiencies are
pointed out as follows.
 Decision making is not always present with the cu
ent implemented information system therefore
equired accounting information for the operations management becomes inefficient.
 The accounting information system functions in such a fashion that requirements related with
financial accounting dominates the requirements related with management accounting system. This
dominant properties reduces the effectiveness of the management accounting information to the
usiness operations of the company.
 The operation management decisions are always predictive by management people of the company
due to dedicated accounting information system deployment. This makes the inaccurate operational
procedures to be taken once the decision is taken.
 The failure of information system with central unit disrupts the local services with the sales and
distribution offices. This dependency of accounting system on information system delays the routine
entry of accounting information into the repository to enable quick realization of sales.
 Disclosure of confidential accounting information due to
eaches of data travelling through open
network of communication system reduces the operational efficiency for management of the assets
of the company.
 The changes of accounting information system reduces the efficiency of working people and requires
elaborative training to provides sufficient knowledge. This training enhances the cost of the company.
3. System Acquisition Method
GWA Group Limited has implemented custom software for system acquisition. Custom software is implemented
with central information system and instances of various components is accessed over the information system. All
the
anch offices, divisional offices, sales and distribution offices access the centralized accounting information
system implemented through custom software. A database software package is used to store and retrieve the
sales and purchase orders data for accounting of the business receivables.
The custom built software for accounting transactions such as payroll system, accounts receivable system, account
payable system, and trail balances are combined with main module of accounting information system. The custom
uilt software of GWA Group Limited includes the billing applications, purchase order modules, general leader,
timesheet, expense and payment on electronic mode. These custom applications are binded under the single
module of accounting information system that is accessed through the information system.
