Opioid crisis seems superficial issue; yet it has formed deep roots in the society, presenting challenges for the pharmaceutical policies to handle the issue. Although opioid is necessary for relieving pain, nevertheless, it has become an addiction, thus, resulting in opioid crisis.

	The article, written by Whitmore et al. (2019), stated that the frequency of use of opioid and the complications related to it have been increased substantially in entire United States. The prescription for opioid pain killers have been increased three folds. It becomes responsible for increase in death of people due to opioid overdose. He characterized the state-level laws and policies, which aimed to reduce opioid-related, harm using 10 different states with focus to implement of prescription drug monitoring programs.

	The article, published by Vashishtha, Mittal and Werb (2017), stated that around 2.4 million people are suffering from opioid use disorder. It suggested that there is need for implementation of creative, public health-oriented solutions to the opioid epidemic. The challenges faced is low availability of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and policy approaches that act like barrier to care. This disorder has laid high burden on USA, Mexico and Canada. It suggests street-level drug marketing policies act as potential barriers.
