ASSESSMENT TASK 2: DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this assessment is to observe yourself and write a reflective paper about your own

communication style in the workplace.

In any form of communication, it is important to be aware of how we influence the process and to do this, we need to be able to identify our strengths and weakness in our communication skills. Developing self-awareness relies on being able to reflect deeply and recognise the role of ‘self’ impacting on outcomes of communication interactions.

To complete this task, first you will need to observe your professional communication in the form of face to face communication over the course of a week. Following this, select two examples of face to face communication to analyse and discuss: one example should showcase your communication weakness(es) and one example should showcase your communication strength(s).

The suggested format for this reflective essay is as follows:

• Brief introduction to the paper

.
(As I work in aged care sector could

you please base on the communication

on this sector)

• Brief description of your face to face communication example demonstrating your weakness(es).

• Using a clear reflective cycle (citing which reflective cycle you are using), critically reflect on your weakness(es) in the face to face communication example, and analyse the impact of those ‘self’ weakness(es) to the outcome of the communication exchange. Use theory to support your analysis.

• Brief description of your face to face communication example showcasing your strength(s).

• Using a clear reflective cycle (citing which reflective cycle you are using), critically reflect on your strengths in the face to face communication example, and analyse the impact of those ‘self’ strength(s) to the outcome of the communication exchange. Use theory to support your analysis.

• Analyse what you have learned about your persuasive professional communication abilities and how these impact on the outcomes of the communication.

• Brief conclusion to paper.

As this is a reflective task, you may use first person. Please ensure that you maintain confidentiality and privacy, so be sure to use pseudonyms for any descriptions of people or organisations.

As this is an academic essay, no headings or dot points may be used. You are expected to use literature to support the discussion throughout the paper. Correct APA (7th ed.) should be used.

ASSESSMENT TASK 2: REFLECTIVE ESSAY
This is the story of my daily experiences, which I receive being a staff nurse associated to the healthcare sector providing support to the aged. Caring for the aged people is exceptionally important task and as argued by Henderson, Willis, Xiao and Blackman (2017), if missed or inte
upted by any chance, it might cause severe problems. The aged needs a lot of sensational care to be imparted towards them and needs to be handled with lot of generosity and positive attitude. According to Halcomb and Ashley (2017), there have been a number of observed instances of disrespect towards the working nurse professionals and I myself have been a victim of such instances. This is a cause of extreme job dissatisfaction at times, as we are forced to smile even after we are disrespected. Simultaneously, it is necessary to study fallouts and strengths in oneself to
ing out the best of all the situations and understand what can be done better in a situation. This is the main purpose of doing the reflective study of my strengths and weaknesses altogether to create a substantial impact on my learning through observation.
There has been a recent case of a constantly degrading mental condition of a patient while doing a therapeutic conversation with him that he is around 70 years old and has been staying alone since the last five years. He thought himself to be quite fit in taking care of himself and was reluctant in asking for any help even though it was necessary although suffering from dementia. He was even reluctant in undergoing any therapeutic session and considered it a wastage of time. Besides, he also showed a lack of interest in trusting the nurses with their adequate knowledge in patient’s welfare. This was an utter violation of workplace respect, as criticised by Stievano et al. (2018), as well as disrespect towards women in general. I had developed a much negative attitude towards the patient due to his perception of disrespect towards me, although I had to entertain him with smile and comfort him during the therapeutic treatment. During the conversation, he spoke vividly about the achievements of his son who is serving the country as a government official and the ways, in which his son used to take care of him and they used to spent time together. He accused his daughter-in-law of causing separation from his son, after his ma
iage.
According to Reljic, Pajnkihar and Fekonja (2019), the main themes for studying a reflective cycle in nurses mainly comprises of interpersonal relationships, emotional experience and learning in an individual. They have refe
ed to the Gi
s reflective cycle, while doing the study, so that the students can systematise their thoughts better and channelize proper orientation towards self-reflection. I am also going to analyse my weaknesses critically, as previously drawn out of my face-to-face conversations with the patient. According to Hawkins, Jeong and Smith (2019), there indeed exist enough instances of nurses facing a negative behaviour in their workplaces. I understand the gravity of the situation but at the same time need to
ing out the best...
