Description
Each culture deserves respect and values for their beliefs. Cultural safety is maintaining such values in the field of nursing as well, to maintain the quality of healthcare equally among all the groups of people in a community. As mentioned by Curtis et al. (2019), cultural safety in the main domain to focus on for
inging equity in healthcare services. The First Nations Person are much emotionally affected by the prior traumas which led them to live in a challenged situation and this must be dealt with creating a safe environment for the Aboriginal and To
es Strait Islander People.
Feelings
The Australians who have their family heritage from before colonisation of the British are still settled in Australia in two groups: the Aboriginals and the To
es Strait Islanders. The two groups combined are called the First Nations People. I feel that these people often face several issues such as loss of cultural identity, removal of closed ones, widespread loss, and prior traumas, which affects their emotional and mental well-being.
According to Wylie and McConkey (2019), such people often face much discrimination in the healthcare providence, which must be revised by the health care providers. Being a nursing student, I feel that the process of providing care must be different for different types of people maintained with their cultural and social behaviour. This would provide an emotional well-being and improve the quality of healthcare services provided by a nurse.
