Assessment Details
Each student is to select a specific field of practice from the following practice fields discussed in class:
· Children, young people and families
· Mental health
· Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
· People from diverse and culturally linguistic backgrounds
· Disability
· Aged Care
Students are required to answer 5 questions as outlined below with 540 words for each answer:
Question 1: Briefly describe the history and current context of the issue you have selected. (540 words)
Question 2: Identify key issues, discuss and note the political, economic and social issues impacting on the field of practice. (540 words)
Question 3: Provide a brief discussion of the major theory/ theories underpinning work in this field of practice. (540 words)
Question 4: Provide a brief overview of current policy and practices in relation to the chosen field. (540 words)
Question 5: Critique the current policies and practices and evaluate their impact on the target group. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these approaches? (540 words)
Assessment 3 Criteria
1. Relevance of answer to questions
2. Effective use of evidence/ data/ sources
3. Extent of research/ analysis
4. Structure and development of argument
5. Critical reflection about implications of analysis for social work practice
6. Clarity of expression
7. Grammar, punctuation and spelling
8. Minimum of 6 academic references used
9. Referencing using APA (6th edition) conventions
