Students are to
analyse contemporary literature related to professional nursing practice
to
consider the requirements for keeping record of continuing professional development activities



This should include:




  • NMBA Code of Conduct for nurses
    and
    NMBA RN standards for practice standard 3 ‘Maintains the capability for practice, and


  • NMBA and AHPRA documents regarding continuing professional development and registration standards
    (eg https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-and-Endorsement/Supporting-documentation.aspx ,
    and
    https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-Standards/Continuing-professional-development.aspx)


After
analysing these key nursing documents in italics and undertaking their own research
students should
build their own Professional Portfolio, which can be
updated throughout their degree, and into their careers. Within the Portfolio, include at minimum:



  1. A video of you introducing yourself as a student nurse, as if to a patient or a potential employer (30 seconds (+/- 10%).
    (Max 4 marks)

  2. A verbal reflection using Gibb's reflective approach on any feedback received (including rubric mark) from the Assessment Three essay, and how this will influence your future essay writing in your degree (3 minutes (+/- 10%).
    (Max 8 marks)

  3. A written summary of your nursing philosophy in 200 words (+/- 10%).
    (Max 8 marks)

  4. A mind map connecting nursing professional regulatory components with Australian healthcare structures and systems.
    (Max 8 marks)

  5. Symbolic storytelling - use any media (writing, video, art, poetry, sculpture) to express how the cultural and political paradigms in Australia have influenced you. Include reflection (written, verbal or video) of how this may affect the development of your nursing persona.
    (Max 4 marks)

  6. A 1-page Curriculum Vitae.
    (Max 4 marks)



7. The portfolio should look engaging and professional, with correct spelling, grammar, and easy-to-navigate readability.
