Introduction
Addiction is a term which is used for the person who have compulsive physiological necessities for and use of a habit-forming substance in the form of heroine and nicotine. It is known as mental illness and further results in various types of health-related issues, social and economic problems. In diagnostics terminology, addiction is a type of personality disorder which can also include deviant behaviours. Addiction is therefore a form of mental illness and like any other mental illness there is stigma associated with it. Hence, it is defined as compulsive use of substance causing physical, psychological and socially harmful effects on the users (Maddux and Desmond, 2000).
The consequences of addiction are serious and does not affect only those who consumes but also the children and family members of the drinking parents. With high density alcohol outlets in the form of bars and off-premise sales there are various diseases associated causing adverse social and health problems like gono
hoea, aggressiveness, child abuse and abandonment and various motor vehicle diseases. Further, the users of illicit drugs are continually exposed to accidents and are victims of violence (Cooke, Kelley, Fals-Stewart and Golden, 2004).
Also, there are serious consequences of people affected to alcohol and drugs like leaving the workforce prematurely (Romelsjo, Stenbacka, Lundberg and Upmark, 2004). Further, the drug and alcohol abusers have to expend huge amount of money in hospital, while being in imprisonment, rising health related costs and loss of productivity (Fenoglio, Parel and Kopp, 2003).

The Alcohol and drugs can be classified into six categories which are as follows:
1. Alcohol: It is the single most widely used substance used globally and mostly in United States. Alcohol has an impact on the basic function of the body. It causes euphoria and reduces the inhibitions as well as imbibes sadness and angriness feelings among the users. It impairs the judgement, perception and reaction times. The forms of alcohol consist of beer, wine and liquor.
2. Opioids: Opioids is a drug which is derived from a synthetic chemical similar to opium. This substance interacts with the neurotransmitter present in the
ain and blocks the signal. This issue is one of the rising problems faced by many Americans today. It is one of the most addictive substance and can be lethal like Heroin, Fentanyl and Oxycodone.
3. Benzodiazepines: This substance is known as Benzos which functions through interaction of neurotransmitter in the
ain. This substance is used for treatment of sleep disorders and psychiatric problems. These are highly addicted substance like Valium and Xanex.
4. Cannabinoids: These are the drugs which have similar compounds similar to marijuana. It creates a feeling of elation but can impact the mental and physical functioning. This drugs mostly consists of Cannabis and Hashish.

iturates: The functioning of the central nervous system is downgraded. It is popular for the psychiatric treatment as well as for sleep disorders. They can also be used for anaesthesia for treating diseases like epilepsy and headaches.
6. Hallucinogens: This drug alters the process of thinking and perception of the users. It leads to misrepresentations and crumbling of reality. It ca
