Introduction
Air pollution is one of the biggest health challenges faced around the world. The health challenges faced by the air pollution includes respiratory infections, heart diseases and lung cancer. Both short- and long-term exposure to the pollution leads to the health impact on all age groups. This grim situation has caused a sever impact on the health of Australians, resulting into almost 5000 death each year because of air pollution by health impacts such as stroke, heart disease and asthma. In this article the discussion is done on the impact of air pollution on people’s health along with the role of stakeholders and the health system on addressing this health challenge. Further recommendations to identify obstacles and provide solution to solve the issue will also be provided.
Influence Factors
Air pollution is a major challenge faced in Australia because the pollution standards of Australia are not strong enough to protect the human health in Australia. Pereira et al. (2017) have discussed that the national air pollution limits in Australia exceeds the cu
ent limits recommended by World Health Organization’s threshold for the air pollution limits and by the international comparison, in which Australia lag in a significant manner. These standards are however implemented in strict manner at countries such as U.S., EU and China. The major contributor of air pollution in Australia is by the coal-fired power stations. Australia is one of the largest hubs for coals around the world. This fossil fuel is used heavily to produce electricity required by the huge factories spread all across Australia. This coal burning also leads to a heavy contributor of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur dioxide (SO2) in the country.

Air pollution level has a serious impact over the citizens of Australia which can be observed by at least 279 deaths a year prematurely because of the toxic air pollution from the five coal fired power station’s around Australia. Melody et al. (2020) have further added that the health impact of air pollution is also evident on new born babies, which included 233 babies born underweight, 361 babies have developed type 2 diabetes and 2614 babies are losing their life every year because of the uncontrolled air pollution from the power station sin NSW. In Melbourne it has been observed that people suffering from the cardiac a
est and the air pollution level in increased form because of the smokes coming from the fires burning in the alpine region, which had badly affected the people of Melbourne. Dean and Green (2017) have discussed that the ground level ozone produced by the interaction of many types of pollutants in the presence of sunlight, can result into the chest tightness or
eathlessness among the people. The elder population are also badly affected by this air pollution, because they are already suffering from certain pre-existing diseases, and that makes matter even worse for them. There are many poor and disadvantaged people, particularly the aboriginal people live in conditions that increases their exposure to pollution, which is higher in number compared with the economically well of people. Hence, these are the factors behind the air pollution and the consequences of air pollution in Australia.
Stakeholders Strategies in Mitigating Air Pollution
To address the issue behind the control of air pollution at different level, it is the joint responsibility of all stake holders involved along with the health sector. Walter et al. (2020) have further discussed that every individual requires to take calculative responsibility in...
