1. Explain the following concepts supporting with examples:
 Ethics: In 2007, Bank of America introduced its plan to market new credit cards to the
Hispanic population in America settled illegally in America. It is fair to the citizens and
legal immigrants to let illegal immigrants use these resources. It is unethical for the bank
to
eak the law of the land which has strict rules pertaining to illegal immigrants.
 Rationalization: An individual steals as he is self-centered and materialistic.
Nevertheless, he does not want to reflect of himself as a wicked individual.
Consequently, he chooses that the motive he is thieving is since humanity is unjust--the
opulent did not merit their prosperity, and theft is modifying unfairness.
 Consequentialism: class of normative ethical philosophies holding that the results of
one's behavior are the final foundation for any decision about the appropriateness of that
ehavior. Thus, from a consequentialist position, a ethically right act (or omission) is one
that will yield a good consequence.
 Utilitarianism: A student wants to help a friend in stealing a question paper because he
has been ill and won’t pass exam without cheating. So he explains it himself that he is
ultimately doing a noble task by making someone pass and the means of doing that does
not matter because ultimately he is going after greater good.
 Deontology: Supposing we permitted lying, so that in place of telling people they must
not to lie, we say that lying is acceptable. Consequently we all choose to trail the ethical

 Decision guides: before deciding the course of action for resolving an ethical dilemma, a
person makes a framework for deciding his actions.
