The four types of telemedicine are highlighted below (Bell, 2016). 
 Live Video Conferencing – This refers to the two way communication that enacts in real 
time usually between a heath provider and another person with technology aiding the 
whole process.  The typical applications of this technique could be for determination 
whether a given patient considering the situation should be moved to the emergency room 
or not, treatment of common ailments. It can also be deployed for imparting lessons 
related to wellness and psychotherapy.  
 Asynchronous Video - In this case, the communication does not proceed in real time and 
instead recorded information could be sent to the healthcare personnel for obtaining inputs 
on how to treat the given patient. The most common application of this video is in rural 
areas or areas where the medical infrastructure may be thin, thus requiring the primary 
staff present to seek the guidance of senior doctors or specialists to treat complicated 
cases.  
 RPM or Remote Patient Monitoring – This involves that all the relevant details about the 
patient are collected from his/her location and then electronically transferred to the 
healthcare personnel located at a different place primarily with the intention of monitoring.
