Allsports is a multisport club which has several thousand members who take part in a diverse range of sporting activities, such as football, cricket, athletics and even darts and table tennis.
The club publishes a newsletter, The Sports Report, under the supervision of the club president every week. The newsletter incorporates 10 articles written by club members featuring the highlights of the week in their particular field of sport and 5 small paid advertisements from outside businesses. The income helps to meet the cost of publication. For each newsletter, the president selects a club member to act as editor of the newsletter on hourly payment basis and it is the editor’s responsibility to obtain the articles from other members for inclusion and to obtain the advertisements from advertisers. For all administrative work 5 casual staff members are employed on hourly payment basis.
Newsletters are published on the Wednesday of each week and cover activities for the previous Monday to Sunday.
The majority of members have email addresses and have agreed to receive the newsletter in an electronic format. Those members who for some reason cannot receive the electronic form may have a paper copy posted to their mailing address. Since there

1. Introduction
The aim of the report is to suggest a feasible and compact solution for storing the information and processing for Allsports Sports Club Information System (ASCIS). ASCIS sends newsletters to its customers on a weekly basis and the company is encountering problems in delayed processing and lack of robust of robust information storage. Hence, they need a solution that focuses primarily on the speed up processing system and robust information storage of all the relevant data. The actual problem encountered in the cu
ent system needs to be analysed first and then the proposed new systems’ functional and non-functional requirements needs to identified. The cost-benefit analysis is done to check the Return on investment and the economic feasibility. The Work Breakdown structure is created to organize the activities and define the total scope of the project. The project schedule is also planned.
With these approaches and techniques, the objective of this project is to build a robust system that makes the processes quick and ensures customer satisfaction.
2. Approach to Systems Development
2.1 Existing System of ASCIS:
ASCIS has limited options of software available in the company. It uses the traditional ways of preparing report on the newsletters. Due to this there are many problems encountered:
· Delayed publishing of newsletters to certain customers which leads to a low customer satisfaction.
· Difficulty in tracking and accessing information.
· Difficulty in report generation
Due to these problems, the customers are left unsatisfied. Hence, there is a need for a robust data processing system in order.
Since the new system that will be developed is pretty unknown for many of the stakeholders, the actual requirements aren’t actually fixed in order to proceed with the system development. Knowing the system as and when the system development is in progress is very essential. Hence, Agile methodology is followed in order to continually learn about the system that is to be developed.
2.2 Selected Approach for System Development:
The suggested solution for development of the system is Microsoft Office SharePoint with collaboration sites. SharePoint is an effective platform to store the data in the form of various lists that reduces data redundancy and also facilitates quick access of data. The SharePoint lists are collaborated with the front-end User-Interface in order to make it simpler for the management at ASCIS to handle the data and processes. The methodology chosen is Agile and the approach as a whole is beneficial to ASCIS in the following ways:
The requirements can be changed continuously as and when there is more awareness is gained about the system. It is more flexible in terms of analysing and designing the system.
The lists can be stored and there is less chances of data redundancy and deletion unlike using Excel or Word.
Automated generation of reports that makes it very simple for the management to access the relevant information.
Automated job to send the...
