Introduction
Communication is one of the necessary aspects of the nursing profession. It has been seen that it is necessary for the nurse to develop the therapeutic relationship with the patient to develop the trust between them, and increase the effectiveness of the treatment. In order to develop the effective therapeutic relationship, many skill and strategies need to be used. in nursing profession, nurses use many effective methods like showing compassion and empathy towards the patient or showing positive body language to build the trustworthy relationship.
Communication can be defined as a medium which is used by people to discuss, think, share or express feelings with each other. Since nurses deal with different kind of patient every day, they need to develop skills which are suitable for everyone. As per the case study, person-centered care is necessary for Mr. William Taylor. The following essay critically analyze the scenario of Mr. William Taylor and nurse.
Analysis of the chosen scenario
As per the case study, nurse take the even shift where she gets to take care of Mr. William Taylor who had been handover to her from the morning shift. Mr. William Taylor is a 79-year-old man who had fallen from the bed and sustained injuries. He had swelling and
uising on his left ankle. Since he had injuries he was constantly crying softly out of pain. When nurse approached her, he gets scared, pushed her away, and asked for the morning nurse who had taken care of her.
Despite he has pain in putting his left foot down, he was reluctant in taking help from the nurse in-charge. On analyzing the cu
ent scenario, it has been observed that there is lack of effective communication between nurse and patient. patient seems scared of nurse as he feared of him.
    As suggested by Mu
ay, and McCrone (2015), it has been observed that elderly patients often find it difficult to trust new people to their su
oundings. They find it difficulty in adjusting the new environment. Their feel comfortable near their familiar people and get feared or become reluctant su
ounding new people. In context of the nursing profession, it is necessary for the nurse to develop the trustworthy relationship with patient with the help of strong communication skills.
It has been seen that the nurse in the scenario failed to develop any relationship with the patient. she could have handled the situation by assuring the patient that he should take his help on sitting the bed and the she will call for the morning nurse. She should have sat with the patient and listen to his story. Another important thing is use of body language.
The use of effective and positive body language is a type of communication skills which without using ve
al contact can develop trustworthy relationship with patient. As noted by...
