Nursing and the care provided by nurses at healthcare organisation are the major driving forces that help patient’s stay at the hospital. Cu
ent case study also presents such issue where Jack was admitted for 12 days in a private hospital and nurses helped him with everything from taking care to helping him take decisions. It is necessary to consider that nursing is a noble profession and there are numerous morals associated with it.
A doctor can guide and present in front the possible treatment choices that the patient may have however, nurses have the potential as well as ability to take care of the patient under any possible treatment. Moreover, such care is the major foundation that can help patient’s stay at hospital and help them recover faster. This assignment also focuses upon one such case through the use of relevant theories or frameworks and aims to analyse the case.
Relevant Theories or Frameworks
Person centred care or patient centred care is one the most important, latest and effective trends that have been emerging with in healthcare. As evident from the name, this nursing philosophy focuses upon providing the best possible care to the patient based upon their personal needs and requirement. In other words, instead of patient sitting back and observing professionals making decisions for them, patient centred care
ings in the patient’s aspects or thoughts regarding any treatment (Hakansson et al., 2018).
Further, being patient centred means empowering the patient in order to make their decisions of care. Tobiano, Bucknall, Marshall, Guinane and Chaboyer (2015) suggested allowing the patient to know all the possible choices and potential benefits and loss associated with them so that patient may be able to have a clear view regarding their treatment. This may also allow the patient to have a better understanding of treatment choice and risks that they may or may not be ready to take.
Moreover, this concept also takes into consideration the safety and comfort of patient because every patient may have different age group, gender and even medical conditions therefore, dynamic interventions may be required. Along with this, helping the patient to find ways that may help them to get better and feel independent is another major aspect of patient centred care.
