· After doctors it is the nurses that enjoy  respect from patients and are themselves considered as equivalent to God in serving humanity selflessly. Drastic change in nursing as a profession was brought by Florence Nightingale in the late 19 th century. Since than the nursing profession has grown rapidly and is required to follow a strict guideline pattern for proving effective and safe healthcare to general mass. Nursing and midwifery Board of Australia registers them and develop standard codes and guidelines related to it. In addition to working as an excellent body it handles notifications, complaints, investigations and disciplinary hearing.  The following assignment covers the professional and unethical misconduct shown by nurses quoting the example o a nurse named Mary and how Board addresses and resolves the situation.
Section A
According to NMBA standard nurses provide safe centred and evidence based practice for the health and wellbeing of people and in partnership with the person promote shared decision making. As by the quoted incident the patient’s remain unattended , the bed sheets not changed and the urine bottles not emptied this causes a lot of discomfort to patients affecting their hygiene and health . This can also lead to urinary tract and fungal infections. In addition it also causes a lot of discomfort to the family members as well. Changing of glucose bottles and other intravenous drug lines is an important task since any late timings can cause blood levels of glucose to fall causing serious health consequences for the patient. As such Mary does not meet the NMBA standards in applying person centred and evidence based care for the delivery of safe and quality care. Under sec 140 D of AHPRD placing the public at risk of harm because of practice that constitutes a signature departure from accepted professional standards comes under mandatory notification guideline.
Person centred practice is providing professional care and taking care of need of people while utilising one's clinical skills . This practice not only revolves around Professional care limited to clinical uses but also emphasises on research, moral and emotional support and providing an excellent workplace collaborative relationship.
