individuals and organisations) are influenced by politics and the societies within which they operate.
Politics and societal expectations determine the health care priorities, policies, funding and delivery
of healthcare services. As a health professional comprehending the context of your work and
employment, and its influence on the provision of healthcare services, is of paramount importance.
In this assessment, you will investigate and discuss the influence of politics on the provision of
healthcare.

Introduction
    The healthcare sector selected for the study is Indigenous healthcare. Indigenous people of Australia are the people belonging to the Aboriginal and To
es Strait Islanders community of the country. The health situation of these people is worse when compared to non-Indigenous people. Their community is burdened with diseases, which are eradicated from the other parts of the country. It is important to note that there is a very high influence of politics and society on all the services delivered to the Indigenous people. In 2008, the government of Australia developed the Closing the Gap framework to reduce disadvantages faced by Indigenous people. This was done after the launch of 2007 close the gap campaign by common people to support Indigenous community.
This report highlights the influence of the government on healthcare policies in comparison to the other policies. This report is necessary to know the role of the government as success of all the healthcare initiatives achieves the success at national level only on account of active role of the government in it. This assignment discusses the formulation of the public policy, issues faced by healthcare policies in the Indigenous sector and role of healthcare policies in identifying the social determinant of health.
1. Public Policy formulated in this Sector and its Stakeholders
    The generation of neglect for Indigenous people resulted in crisis in the Indigenous health. Before 1967, commonwealth did not have any power to act in the Indigenous affair. Indigenous community had no role in public policies. After year 1967, constitutional referendum was passed on Aboriginal people. This gives power to the commonwealth to pass the legislation allowing Indigenous people of the country to become part of the census.
In late 1970s, people belonging to the Indigenous community started forming their own community-controlled healthcare service to support the health of their community. In 1973, first ten-year healthcare program was setup for the Indigenous community. In year 1975, another organization called National Aboriginal controlled community health organization was developed (NACCHO). This organisation was previously known as NAIHO. Government then started granting funding and organising healthcare services to the Aboriginal and To
es Strait Islander community (NACCHO, 2019).
    In 2003, National Health Strategic Framework was developed for the Aboriginal and To
es Strait Islanders. This framework was based on National Aboriginal Health Strategy of 1989 and their evaluating reports. Apart from this, there are other reports which are took into recommendations such as home report on Indigenous health and the report name health is life submitted to the House of Representatives, 1991 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody and “Bring them Home” Report. The members who are the stakeholders of the healthcare framework include the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council, NACCHO, Commonwealth Government, the TSRA, the Congress of Indigenous Nurses and experts appointed by the Commonwealth Minister of Health, ATSIC, the Australian Indigenous Doctors Association, responsible for health (NFSATSIH, 2019).
