As noted by Oliver (2015), disability can be defined as any condition of body or mind that makes it difficult for them to perform their activities and interact with world around. Disability can be genetic, or caused by injury or disease. Disability can be of many types such as cognitive disability, such as impairment of
ain, communicating, thinking learning and remembering disability, physical disability, such as hearing, vision, walking, speaking, and disable hands, as well as social relationship disability.
Impacts of Disability on Adults
People who suffered from disability since childhood tends to get adjust with their situation over the period. On the contrary, people who become disable in their adult age have devastating impact on them. As mentioned by Kavanagh et al. (2015), disability has psychological impact on the person. It makes them isolated from the world. They find it difficult to adjust with their disabilities. Depression, grief and sadness are very common in these people.
Adults with disability consider their life worthless, as they are not able to contribute in family like rest of the family members. They needed constant support, which makes them dependent on other. As suggested by Fraire and Infurna (2017), trauma of injury or disease, which disabled the person, is so high that they even attempt suicide to get free from their disability.
