A 30,000 litre water tank is 2.6m high and 4.33 m in diameter. It has two outlet pipes, one at the base of the tank and one higher up. The distance between the two means that when the water level is at the height of the upper pipe there is still 10,000 litres of water remaining in the tank for fire fighting if needed. The top portion of the tank is used for stock drinking water. If the tank is holding 30,000 litres of water what is the ratio of the water velocity coming out of the bottom tap compared to the velocity of the higher tap when both taps are initially opened? Assume both taps are the same size.
