About this Assignment
The �eld of arti�cial intelligence is constantly moving ahead and innovating in ways we never dreamed possible. This course has
shown you some of the underlying technologies which make AI possible. In order to get a deeper sense of AI principles, you are
asked to write an essay in which you will need to research, analyze, and write about a cutting-edge discovery in the world of AI and
machine learning.
Prompt
Write a XXXXXXXXXXword essay on one of the following recent discoveries in AI. Explore the concepts that are the foundation to
these discoveries, how they work, and any future implications behind them.
1. Autonomous vehicles or self-driving cars are already a reality in some cities around the world. What was the reason behind this invention? What
software logic and hardware are needed to allow these cars to drive without hitting pedestrians or other vehicles? What legislation had to be
passed to allow these cars on the road? Are there any moral issues?
2. Language models, like GPT-2, make it possible for computers to write sentences, essays and maybe even novels. What were the humble
eginnings of this technology? What algorithm is used to achieve this? What could we use this type of AI for in the future?
3. Deep learning is a subset of machine learning that utilizes layered arti�cial neural networks. In a sense, the goal is to create an arti�cial

that can think on its own. What are some of the reasons deep learning is now possible when it wasn't before? How does deep learning work?
What applications can this be applied to in the future? Are there any risks?

Please write your paper in APA format. You may refer to the course material for supporting evidence, but you must also use at least
3 sources and cite them using APA format. Please include a mix of both primary and secondary sources, with at least one source
from a scholarly peer-reviewed journal. If you use any Study.com lessons as sources, please also cite them in APA (including the
lesson title and instructor's name).
Primary sources are �rst-hand accounts such as interviews, advertisements, speeches, company documents, statements, and press releases
published by the company in question.
Secondary sources come from peer-reviewed scholarly journals, such as Computing Edge. You may use sources like JSTOR, Google Scholar,
