Lauren’s problematic behaviors
In this given case enquiry, Lauren is a 16 years old girl who is doing her VCE and lives with her family. Her family includes her mother, step-father and younger half-
other. It has been described that she doesn’t like her step-father and misses her real elder
other who is studying in Melbourne. Lauren is mostly anxious and i
itable and doesn’t think as clearly as she was a few months back. She thinks she has either glandular fever or chronic fatigue syndrome and visited her GP a few times. She is asthmatic, stopped playing net ball due to ligament injury, is not very social and consumes a large amount of alcohol.
This behavior is problematic on a lot of levels for Lauren. Firstly, she is not active in her school or for her studies which implies that she may lack behind in her studies and may not be able to get into a good college because of that. Secondly, she is not active socially and does not have many friends or a close friend, this means she may not be able to express herself or her emotions and may become introvert or anti-social which is harmful. Thirdly, she is not serious for her part-time job in the bakery that she has to go in on Sundays that shows her lack of discipline and responsibility.
Alcohol has becomes a major part of Lauren’s Friday and Saturday evenings due to her recent experiences in life. Lauren already had wrist problems due to her past car accident and she already had her knee ligament injured in net ball game that made her stop playing the game she liked. Then, she also did not feel comfortable with her old best friend and did not have any other good friends as well. The only friends she had engaged in alcohol drinking in any amount of any
and. Alcohol gave her sever hangovers, aggravated her asthma and her part-time job also suffered along with her studies. Alcohol can really be harmful for her in the long run as also mentioned by Crews (2016).
Rob’s helpful actions to modify Lauren’s behavio
Rob is Lauren’s GP who is well established in his profession and has huge respect for his work in the society. Lauren has been visiting her GP for several conditions like asthma and lack of energy. Rob had been suggesting her a few life-style change for improvement in her health conditions which she been only partially following. Rob wanted her to lead a healthy lifestyle and motivated her for the same. But, Lauren did not follow her advice completely and hence her condition did not improve much. Rob also found it difficult to deal with Lauren sometimes due to her indiscipline with health.
Rob had suggested Lauren that she should make certain changes in her life for better health like being more physically active, reduction of alcohol consumption and following the course of her asthma medications. Rob also suggested the increase of social networks and to
oaden her social activities. Rob and Lauren had worked together over several consultations and Rob had repeatedly asked Lauren to be more health cautious. But Lauren did not follow his...
