The alcohol and drugs (AOD) sector are concerned with assisting drug and alcoholic dependent people. AOD works toward preventing drug addiction by some of the programs involving schools, families, media, and communities as it reduces or prevents drug addiction and use.
There are some of the models that have been quite influential in developing drug treatment and drug policies historically and it is consistently used to date. Furthermore, these models tend to influence the way individuals work with young people and other individuals who have problems with drugs (Barnett & Fry, 2015).
The three legal frameworks/ requirement that is applicable in a workplace:
· Alcohol and other drug treatment principles
· Workplace prevention basics that provide the staff with an interactive guide in terms of identifying and preventing substance misuse in the workplace
· Developing a policy for a drug-free workplace
Following are the three evidence-based model which informs AOD sector’s work:
Moral model- during the early eighteenth and nineteenth centuries addiction was regarded as a sin. People who are dependent on drug were viewed as morally extremely weak and addiction was observed as a fault in an individual’s character. Moreover, the users were punished with public beatings, whippings, fines under the influence of this model. In some of the British towns, people were also forced to walk only wearing beer ba
els and this was a walk of shame. One of the most common treatments for people with drug addiction was spiritual direction. Another form of punishment was jail sentences and as time progressed drug users were admitted to mental hospitals as there was no place in jails....
