(1) I believe that a big part of defining quality of care from the patient’s perspective is subjective to that specific patient. One definition for quality of care from the patient’s perspective is `the totality of features and characteristics of a health care product or services, that bear on its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs of the consumers of these products or services'.
I think it is necessary to note that patient satisfaction is defined as ‘the extent to which services gratify the desires of patients regarding structures ture, process and outcome dimensions and characteristics’.
From a providers perspective their quality of care is based off of patient outcomes.
(2) An example of provider quality of care success is if Sally was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago and she is now in remission. She faithfully gets her scans done as directed. Sally also follows her doctors recommended diet and physical activity levels. The provider in this example has the ideal patient who reports changes, follows all recommendations, and has a positive diagnosis and outlook.
An example of patient quality of care success is (five years earlier) Sally finds a lump. She schedules an appointment with her doctor and they have an opening in two days. When Sally arrives to her appointment check in is easy and quick. She only has to wait seven minutes before being called to the back. Once back in the examination room Sally is continuously engaged by staff and has minimal down/wait time. The provider throughly explains every step and gives Sally the opportunity to ask questions at any time. The provider is also reassuring Sally along the way. Sally feels supported by the team. They biopsy the mass and when the results come back saying that it is cancer Sally is given an entire support system including community support.

Patient or customer satisfaction is viewed as a valued concept which is based on a relationship between experiences and expectations. Being considerate your patient’s viewpoint will give you a great understanding of how you can offer the top patient experience and guarantee the most effective health outcomes. Active communication is so significant to accomplishing this. Offering patient portal technology adds many advantages and conveniences for cultivating communication with your patients and giving them up-to-date and suitable access to their personal health information (Boyer, 2019).
In this author's opinion over the past few years, the quality of care has excelled in the state of Kentucky. The level of quality of care has strengthened the healthcare they provide I feel if they continue to bring this level of care it will continue to prove to be excellent providers. They are also a teaching hospital and allow students to learn from the providers and how to provide quality care.
