1. Having read the chapter on philosophy before Socrates and learned about the branches of philosophy, which of the four branches would you say was their primary focus or concern? Give three examples of why you believe your answer accurately summarizes the primary focus of pre-Socratic philosophy.
2. As you read the "simplistic answer they had" (compared to the complex answer science has given us), do you think that they should , like myths, be understood literally? or should we assume some level of analogy and allegory?Example, for Thales everything is made of water and all things are filled with gods.
3. The author of the gospel of St. John, from the bible, began his book by using the term "word" (logos) to describe who Jesus is. Comparing the LOGOS of Heraclitus with the God of theism (Christianity, Judaism and Islam), do you find any similarities?
