1. Find the equations of the line through the points (1,1) and (-3 , -4)
2. Find the vertex of the parabola.
3. Solve the system 5x - 7y = 3x = 2y - 24
4. Solve the system
5r - s + t = - 23
3r + 2s - 3t = 9
r - 3s + 2t = - 25

1. Points (1,2) and (-3,-4).
Equation of line passing through these points is
y-y1=[(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)](x-x1)
y-2=[(2+4)/(1+3)](x-1)
y=3x/2+1/2 (d)
2. 142  xxy
y’=0 => x=2
At x=2, y=-3
Vertex = (2,-3) (a)
3. 5x-7y=-40 and 3x-2y=-24
Multiplying first equation by 3 and second equation by 5 and subtracting, we have
y=0
Substituting this value in first equation, we have
x=-8
(-8,0) (a)
4. (-3,6,-2) satisfies all 3 equations
5....
