·  Analyzing the political culture of Germany in the past, Taylor argues that Germans were more inclined to pursue growth whenever and wherever they could without external pressure. It was not common for them to respect the national objectives of their neighbors. Taylor's belief in this fundamental flaw would affect his view of German politics throughout the nineteenth century and beyond (Granieri, Ronald ).
· In Taylor's opinion, Luther was a failure for Germany. The Reformation in the German countries established a religious rift that would never fully heal. Luther was a typical German who valued emotions over knowledge.
