1. A sealed box with a volume of 9.0 ft3 is on the floor of the ocean.  Calculate the buoyant force on the box.
Pressure of object = pressure of liquid hence it is on surface
Buoyant force = 9 ft^3*density *9.81 Newtons =9(62.248)32 =17927.424 lb f
2. What is the buoyant force on a piece of metal with a volume of 0.15 m3 if it is immersed in fresh water? Round your answer to the nearest whole digit.
Buoyant force = mass *g = 0.15 (9.81) * density. = 1471.5 N
3. What is the unit for your answer to the previous question? (newtons)
Select one:
a. kg
. ft3
c. l
ft2
d. m3
e. Pa
f. N
g. psi
h. l
4. What is the water pressure on a submarine 114 m under the surface of the ocean?
Water displaced = 114 m.
0.3048 m pressure = 14.7*6894.76 Newtons
For 114 m = 37907608 Newtons
