In medieval Europe, eleventh century, most of the people were villagers with a high religious belief. There were very few towns as compared to other places. Due to their religious attractions and beliefs people were attracted towards these places and slowly it developed into towns or cities. People started to visit and live in small groups. Houses were mainly made of wood and were relatively small than that of the cities.
