Food is a necessity of life; history has witnessed evolution of food alongside evolution of humanity. Every civilisation is marked by the cultural influence of food. From eating traditional food home-cooked meal to Italian food on local streets, change in lifestyle has changed the eating style. Pizza with topping of pineapple is one of many examples.
Food we eat today and food, which people eat in 20th century, is very different. Nowadays, people are mostly dependent on the packaged food or frozen food. The influence of the western food such as pizza, burger, French fries, and sugary drinks has become common on our diet. Therefore, 21st century is considered as the era of scientific advancement and technological modernisation, which support the humanity by making their life easy. From agriculture to horticulture, all the fields of technology have influenced the eating habits. Now, fruits and vegetables are present all year around. This may have evolved the eating habit and make the access of food easily, but affect the nutrition of the individual. I took the interview of my father; we have age gap of 25 years. He told me about the food culture during the 80s and 90s, when he is in school and college.
He provides the insight about the way eating habits of the people have been changed, from fresh traditional home-cooked Irish stew to food with high influence of sugar and fat.
They used to consume the organic and simple food without compromising the taste. On the contrary, our food is mixed with chemicals and artificial colour and fragrance. He recalled.
