Topic - Big Data Analytics in the Smart Grid

Review of your Topic (Report 20 marks – Presentation 10 Marks)

Provide a critical review of the literature including recent developments in your proposed topic. The report should provide:

· A half-page executive summary. (Refer to some of the reports that are provided as supplementary material for examples of executive summaries)

· An introduction to your selected topic, identifying its relevance and importance in the development of the Smart Grid

· A literature review of current developments and recent trends. This should be the main part of your assignment.

· Examples of applications.

· Conclusions

· A comprehensive list of relevant References

Make sure that the above sections are clearly marked in your reports and include relevant content.

Abstract
The data analytics is an important part of the model industrial system who becomes successful. An information layer is used which is driven by more development in the ICT technology and this layer is embedded on the distribution network and electricity transmission to collect, to analyze the data using smart sensors. This report is mainly about analytics present in big data and its applications useful for the smart grids. This report includes characteristics of the big data along with each definition and smart grids. All the processes for collecting and storing the data is included in the report. It is used for the potential advantages using the advanced data analytics in the system.
Introduction
As the developments in their digital technology at cloud computing environment is becoming very fast these systems are producing more and more data using the equipment in digital form and the sensors like the computers, smartphones and infrastructure of measurement. The activities and communications done by human are also responsible for increasing the amount of data. When we can analyze this data efficiently and effectively then this can add a huge value and it can be greatly beneficial for our daily life and activities (Tu, C., He, X., Shuai, Z. and Jiang, F). The data which is collected is increasing at an exponential level and its structure is also becoming more and more complex. The new revolution in the Internet and information accusation devices is successfully helping to lower the cost of collecting the data but the huge amount and its complex structure is still a challenge for applying the data analytics techniques on them. As discussed about the power grid it has fossil fuels which faces problem in the depletion and deca
onization and it requires a power system who did use the emission of ca
on in it. Smart grid resulted in most effective and efficient solutions in increasing the spirit of electrification of the human society using higher penetration from the energy sources which are renewable also. The data analytics Method is mainly based on the renewable Which helps in better regulation and dispatching for the data analytics methods. We can use the traditional electricity meters in their distributed use division system as it produces very small amount of data which we can collect and analyze man willing for the simple billing process. The large amount of data is collected using a two way communication in the smart grids but it needs advanced analytics methods of methods to extract some important information which is not merely for the billing purpose but also for finding the electricity network and its status. Example for this situation can be when a high resolution issue is used to analyze the behavior of customer comments forecasting the demand and finding out the and as you generation optimization construct the maintenance which is predictive and the fault detecting methods are mainly based on the analytics methods which uses some advanced metric infrastructure . This infrastructure is more critical for the security of a power system. An information layer is applied to the energy network which produce a huge amount of data and it includes the measurements and instructions for the control of collecting, transmitting, storing, and analyzing the data at a fast speed. This technique is useful to get more opportunities but also
ings some challenges for the data analysis platform. This report includes the discussion about the data analysis and applications of analyzing process in smart grids (Shyam, R., HB, B.G., Kumar, S., Poornachandran, P. and Soman, K.P.,).
Concept of big data
The big data is a vast subject which does not have any clear or unique definition. There are different definitions from different authors which includes few similar words. This can be defined as the emerging technical problem which was introduced by the dataset having a large size, different categories and some complicated structure. This dataset needs some novel framework and special methods to find out important result. The way of defining big data mainly dependent on the type and ability of algorithm used for mining the data and its related hardware systems used to handle the huge datasets. The big data is a that amount of data which is not easy to manage, store and process in an efficient manner using traditional data management systems.
Concept of smart grids
The smart grids system can be defined as a type of power system and it has an information layer. The layer of information is used to allow two-way communication among the local actuators and central controllers along with the logistic units which are known for responding in the digital form for the urgent situations found in the physical elements or changing the demand of electricity. After comparing the traditional power system with the cu
ent power system, the widespread application which is used under the green energy resources is not efficient for positioning their centralized power plants large-scale. It reduces the efficiency of centralized control strategy as it has a single way of power flow will stop the layout of the Inter-operability layers has communication, component, function, information, and the business layer in the first 2 dimensions. We can use the SGAM architecture overview to understand the negative points and all the commonalities which are present in the smart grid standards cu
ently.
Characteristics of Big Data
The features of a big data are present in smart grid similar to the universal 5V of the big data model.
1) The volume is the first characteristic of the big data which...
