Assessment
instructions
You are contracted to provide an assessment and
ecommendation for a new attraction or event for the City of
Sydney with the aim to increase visitors to the city during the
winter months. Typically, visitor numbers are at their lowest during
this time resulting in lower revenue for hotels, restaurants and city
etailers and businesses.

Your task is to write a report that:
✓ Critically appraises the effectiveness of established
theories and strategies in creating an appropriate solution
to the problem of lower visitation during winter months.
✓ Proposes a new event or attraction that would be suitable
for increasing visitor numbers over the winter months and
is aligned with the strategies already in place for this
destination. You will need to include details of the actual
event or attraction such as proposed dates, venue/s and a
ough outline of the schedule for events, or an overview of
the attraction, what it would be what services it would offer
and a proposed location.
ASSESSMENT TEMPLATE___________________________________________________
Page 2 of 2
✓ Identifies the specific target market/s, who they are, how
you selected them and why you think they would be
interested in your event/attraction.
✓ Identifies what additional infrastructure, services and
expert knowledge would be required to support this new
event/attraction and where this will come from (e.g.
specific government agencies).
✓ Specifies how you would measure the success of your
event/attraction in achieving the objective of increasing
visitor numbers over winter.
The report must be well researched (based on relevant and
eliable sources), and incorporate theories, management
principles and the published strategies of tourism agencies that
promote tourism and visitation to Sydney. It should be written in
an academic style, approx. 3000 words in length (not including
executive summary, reference list or any appendices).

Be particularly careful to avoid plagiarism that is, passing other
people’s work off as your own (academic theft). Penalties for
plagiarism are heavy and may include failure in the course.

The main criteria for success:
1.Insight – The report should demonstrate an in-depth
understanding of the destination/attraction experiential services
and qualities, and tourist/visitor motivation theory
2. Substantiation - The report should be underpinned by course
material and additional readings around the topic.
3.Clarity and structure – The report should be well structured
and clearly presented

Introduction
People of Sydney in Australia love to spend their free time in different events. They engage their time by organising some cultural events, which will attract the people of foreign countries also. Therefore, they try to do some attractive sensational programs in order to
ing tourists in their city, in their country from outside (Fo
est, Lean & Dunn, 2016). They start to organise different social events, which will engage the people who love to show their talents publicly. Tourists can also participate in these kinds of events or programs. Hence, these types of programs will attract the tourists as they can enjoy, participate, be happy and can get prize also.
Highlighting the Issues faced in Sydney during the Winter Months
The main issue, which is Sydney facing in the months of winter is that it becomes very cold during winter. The climate changes a
uptly from summer. It rains and snow falls in Sydney during winter. The common people of Sydney cannot go out of the house. They only go outside if they need something to buy or have some work to be done (Ooi, Mair & Laing, 2016). The tourists from different countries also avoid this place in order to reduce the possibilities of being sick. However, the main attractions of Sydney face loss for this kind of attitude of the tourists.
They face a huge loss in their country’s economy. If tourists avoid those places during winter then the main income from the tourist spots will be stopped. There will be financial problems. Lack of money will be an issue for the country’s GDP. The financial stability will be lost if tourists not come in Sydney to see the beautiful sea beaches, Ha
our Bridge and Opera house (Schnitzer & Haizinger, 2019). These placers are the main important tourist attractions from where the Australia country can earn a lot from the tourists. They also earn a lot for foreign cu
ency, which can help in exchange department also.
Discussion
Describing the Event
The destination of the show will be near the famous tourists’ place. People will love to stay near any interesting tourist spot to see the place very clearly from near. It is an enchanting matter for the tourists and they as per their mentality, choice and money, will choose a place to stay. Therefore, the event must be at the centre of the Sydney city to be attracted to the tourists. The tourists will be very helpful if they find the event place quickly and they can locate it.
Most of the hotels are located in the centre of the city, which can attract many people to stay. Consequently, the shows near ant hotels, any tourist spots can attract many people to come. The local people also come to attend the show if there will be transport quality good. Hence, destination is very much important for an event. Venue should be easily locatable and available.
The duration of the program may be from evening until midnight. As most of the people will be free during the evening, hence, they can attend the shows. The people will love to be entertained in the evening after a hectic day. Therefore, the organisers can start the show from 6 p.m. until 12 AM at midnight. After midnight, the use of loud speakers, music systems, boxes are prohibited from using. In addition, people also need to go back homes, hotels.
Hence, the show timing can be during the evening. The show might be run on for seven days. Each day a different cele
ity will perform on the stage. This will attract the spectators most. The different performers, different songs, different genres of music, different qualities, different talents will steal everything and people will enjoy it. The opening time and closing time of the programs can be depending on the peoples’ convenience. The first of the show can be talent hunt for the audience.
The most talented people will get a chance to perform on the show on stage with a cele
ity. The stage performance of the cele
ity will start from 8 PM to 12 AM at mid night. So, the talent hunt can be continued from 6 PM to 8 PM sharply. Although the talented people can enrol their names each day from 4 PM; however, the event venue will open from 4 PM and close on 12 PM. The hosts of the events will be expert enough to handle the shows. They will be experienced. They will announce the names of the participants and run the shows.
They will organise the show at the time of performing and call the names of the cele
ities, performers one by name. They will keep a harmony in the show. They will tackle everything in a timely manner. Hosts will invite the guests on the stage to say something. Hosts will call upon the stage best performers to take the prizes. They will invite the judges to take their seats according to their names respectively. In short, a person who has the ability to handle and can host a full event, will be selected for hosting the show.
The names and numbers of artists are the main enchanting matters for this show. The organisers will at first try to
ing all the globally famous artists and confirm their names. After confirming their names, they will announce the names on the leaflets, pamphlets, advertisement to spread their show’s news and attract more people. They will advertise about this show and will tell people to come along with the confirmation of great hospitality. If it is possible to
ing famous young stars in the show, then new generation will be more attracted towards their show.
If possible, then Sydney city authority may
ing Lady Gaga, Enrique, Sia, Adams, Ketty Pe
y, Pitbull, Ricky martin, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Kesha, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Eminem for the rock concert. These cele
ities have huge fan followings globally. From Europe to America, Japan to Russia, every country they have fans....
