Information Systems Analysis, Modeling, and Design
Individual Project Assignment
Purpose
The purpose of the individual system analysis and design project is to demonstrate student’s ability to apply the knowledge learned in this course to a real-world project.
Topics Suggestions
1.    The system analysis and design project must be realistic and it will be done using techniques covered in this course. The list of topics suggested for this project is as follows:
a) Ticket purchase system (airline, train, cruise, concert, or others)
) Internet shopping sites (clothing, shoes, books, music, or others)
c) Local real estate agency system
d) Rental system (car, video, or others)
e) Warehouse management system
f) Student record system
g) Banking system
h) Insurance purchase system (life, medical, homeowner, or others)
i) Credit card management system
j) Li
ary circulation system
2.    The above list is meant to be suggestive and if you have an idea about a specific topic, please consult with me early to determine if it is suitable for the course.
3.    You have to select and submit the project topic for instructor’s approval by the end of Week 2.
Project Deliverables
The project requires students to perform three phases: (a) requirements analysis, (b) system and database design, and (c) a project plan. Note that in the phase 3, students are required to use the MS Project software for their project schedule.
The deadline for the Individual Project can be found in the schedule section of the class syllabus.
The following layout format covering a title page and all three phases is recommended for the project.

Title- Online Book System
Name-
Date-
Abstract
The motive of this report is to develop an online book store which can be accessed using
owser and allows customers to search and buy the books for them. The books can be searched using the author, title or subject. The filtered books will be visible on the screen for the user with their price and user can buy then by making the payment using any card. This online store will help user to save a lot of time which gets wasted when we visit any shop physically. I am designing this online portal using .Net and MYSQL.
This book store is a web application which allows the user to buy books online. Once the opens this website he can have multiple options and a search box. Books can be searched using author, title and subject name. The selected book will be placed in the shopping cart and money transaction can be made using any credit or debit card. All the steps and details for each purchase will be stored in the database. The new users will be allowed to input some information and get a new account for them or existing users can use their login credentials to open the existing account. The personal information involves name, phone number, address, email address and age. Once the purchase is made users are allowed to rate their experience for the shopping.
This online book store is accessible using any
owser when connected with the internet. Administrator has options to add, delete, and modify the books and their details. They have access to the user’s information. (Academia) This online application is designed and developed using JSP, HTML 5 and .Net programming language. MYSQL is used to create the database and store data about the books and members. To develop this online book store I have used the Master page, data grids, data sets and user controls.
Requirement Analysis
Introduction
The world is so dependent on the software and there is lots of area which needs improvement. As the human being is maintaining the development of the application the philosophies and implementation details are changing. There are some true and tried architecture patterns in the complex world of software development world. If we design anything then it should surely have something new innovation instead of just regular practices. Web applications allow the developer to show the most creative side of development to the users. This report includes everything about the project starting from the basic requirements, use cases diagram, to database to user interfaces and component frameworks. (Sam Johnston , December 15, 2017) I have included each and every topic in this report which are important to design web application.     In today’s time everybody wants to have books and knowledge but doesn’t have time to go and buy them. So, I decided to develop an application which can allow the users to do shopping and have rest.
An online book store is a virtual store where users can get books of their choice and payment can be made through same portal. It saves the time of the user in walking to the market and searching for the books.
Problem Definition
The online book store is designed for the users to buy books at ease. This application will generally have three types of users which are buyers, suppliers and administrators. The three of them can use the system by logging in via their unique user name and password. If any new user visits the site he can simply create their profile by clicking on the register button. All users need to enter their personal details to get registered themselves on the portal and they will see a welcome page once they log in. (Sanjay Agal, Fe
uary 2012)
Administrator - He will have access to add, modify and delete the details of any user or supplier or book information. He can even maintain the inventory and order books from the suppliers.
Buyers - The new buyer can register them self on the portal by filling their name, address, phone number and email id. They will be assigned username and password according to the details provided. After logging in on the page buyers will be able to view the catalogue which they can sort either by the price or name or author name. The default list is according to the history of the buyer. Buyers can search for the book using author name, book name, isbn number and select books to add them in their shopping cart. (Punith kothari) Buyers can go to the cart by clicking the link provided on the top of the page. Users can either remove the books from the cart or modify their selection. A summary will be shown to the user and payment can be made from their only. Once the payment gets successful the customer will be redirected to the shipment page where they can track their order and order confirmation mail will be sent to the user.
Supplier - The suppliers will be able to check their past interaction with the administrator once they log in. They can sort and edit the status of orders as pending or completed.
Objective
The main purpose of designing this system is to allow the customers to buy their books online without wasting the time and manage the data in database for the orders they have made. The books are stored in the database with isbn number, name, subject, author name and publication. They selected books are saved in cart of the user and payment will be made from their only. The payment can be made using the credit or debit card. Suppliers, buyers and administrator will have different functionalities in the portal which can be used once they login in the system. This system will be able to reduce the manual task of the manager to manage the books and their details. Database will be capable of storing books, stock bill, customer details and their order payment details.
Functionalities provided by this system
· Provides the facility to search based on the factors of books, customers, orders and suppliers.
· It helps to manage the bill details online for payment details with the books.
· Manage the information of stock
· Shows the information about the books,...
