Personal Reflection
Healthcare conditions in Australia have still been acknowledged to have a range of problems, particularly concerning the Indigenous populace, who have been recognised as having difficulty accessing adequate conventional primary health services. Indigenous people face ba
iers to obtaining culturally appropriate healthcare (Al Shamsi et al., 2020). In my personal reflection, I have also encountered an Aboriginal patient and faced the same issue relevant to their culture.

In this reflection, I will look at a case study of an Aboriginal patient who came to a healthcare facility to get a blood test conducted. At that point, my shift was over. The patient had difficulty communicating with the nurse who was assisting him because, being an Indigenous person, he did not know the English language and the nurse was consistently questioning him in English. The patient started feeling so secluded that nobody was interested in his case. Based on the circumstances of the scenario, I felt so
y for him for not receiving the expected care services from the medical facility. I called an interpreter to help him. After a few hours of struggle, he was able to get his blood test done.

The communication constraint with the Aboriginal patient was an unfortunate circumstance since the patient is unlikely to have trusted in the care he was seeking. Miscommunication can result in misunderstandings, which can lead to culturally inadequate treatment...
