Supportive evidence for The Care Certificate
1.2
Aim of a clinical support is to help the professionals for proper care of patients. Objectives of a clinical support worker include dietetic assistant, healthcare assistant, technician and any work, in which the professionals require help. Values include treating every patient equally, helping the professionals without any negativity in mind, working for the patients from heart and not as a formality, working with the team with honesty and with open view.
1.2f
Honesty is needed when working as a clinical support worker because the patient needs to feel safe and secure so that they can open up regarding the issues they have also, this helps the patient to feel more confident when they are getting care. Similarly, the information given to patient should be accurate and clear without money mindedness. Worker should also be honest with the patient so that they do not disclose their personal information to someone unknown.
2.2a
Literacy level required for being a CSW is not very high, as it needs to have only standard education. However, the applicant should be familiar with the medical terminology. A previous experience with any lab is also a plus point for the applicant. Likewise, applicant should be familiar with more than one language because the patients encountered can be of any type and from any region. Further, communication should be polite, caring and humble.
3.3a
Caring for the patients is not only a moral concern but also
ings important legal responsibilities called ‘duty of care’. This simply means that the patient receiving the healthcare is free from any risk, poor or unsafe environment, abuse language used, misuse or substance abuse in the care premise. Likewise, even if the complaint is received from patient the worker should ensure the patient that their complaint will be taken seriously and they will be informed at every proceedings. It can also be assured that the patient may hire and advocate working on their behalf in taking legal actions (MDU, 2018).
3.5d
If the work place presents any situation that appears to be unfair or is observed as a misconduct, the worker can raise the under Public Interest Disclosure Act (1998). This act allows the workers to ‘blow the whistle’ if the working environment are not acceptable. Such as if the equipment used are unsafe, or there is substance misuse employer should be aware of the whistle blowing procedure that is reporting against the working. However, if there is need of support from someone the trade union is the best option (UCAS, 2019).
3.5e
“Agreed ways of working,” means the suitable conditions of working under law, providing care as well as support to the needs of individual. This is because there are certain set of working conditions for every worker and violation of which, should be confronted. Therefore, every worker should be able to identify the affected group, should gather evidences and then proceed further with a written application. Application should specify the results to be observed and asked for written response (Department of Health, 2019).
5.2
Jakimowicz and Pe
y (2015) mentioned that a range of tools could be used to assess the patient according to their needs. Tools such as InterRAI comprehensive assessment tool or systematic evaluation and intervention for seniors as risk (SEISAR) can be used. However, the used tool should be standardised so that variations among different individuals can be minimised. In addition, the assessment should help to treat the condition by detection and identification of responsible reasons.
5.2c
A healthy patient and the health worker relation are required during the treatment process. As supported by Archer, Stevenson, Coulter and Breen (2018), a healthy relation leads to better communication and a better understanding for the patient. Patient can be a part of decision making also if they are aware of their treatment or care. Moreover, they can plan their future accordingly and can care for themselves better.
5.3
Reporting for the concern depends upon the nature of concern. If the concern is related to patient’s habits, medication or wellbeing, then it will be reported to the family member or the carer. Moreover, if it is any information related to the life-threatening event of patient has to be delivered then also family member or carer is reported (Department of Health, 2019). If the concern is related to certain complication in understanding the case or lack of facility for the treatment of issue, a senior member or staff can be reported.
5.4
Concerns related to any misconduct or any activity that should not be performed such as use of a harmful equipment or substance abuse needs to be reported to the supervisor or the manager. This is because they can take action according to the power they have, however the complaint should be registered in written and all the evidences should be attached along with it.
5.4c
Concerns can be via different means or systems. This depends upon whether the individual or the worker wants to reveal their identity or not. A written application with the objective and attached evidences can be submitted without any name. Moreover, during feedback sessions or during the team meetings, concerns can be conveyed to the supervisors. Further, support can be taken from co-workers and the trade union for raising the concern.
Communication
6.1
Communication is the key to an effective treatment. As supported by Norouzinia, Aghabarari, Shiri, Karimi and Samami (2016), language is the biggest ba
ier that develops a communication gap. Culture is another major factor that develops gap between the working and affects the relation at work. Further, body language and unusual gestures can also present communication ba
ier. Not listening properly to the speaker also badly effect the working relation as the information conveyed will not be properly analysed...
