Depression is a phase where high magnitude impact is observed. This impact is global. It is likely to affect the livelihoods of people in comparatively greater numbers as compared to recession and lastly, it has long lasting effects. In other words, it can be said that when production, demand and supply get affected for long and lasts for several years it is refe
ed as economic depression.
It can also be said that negative growth of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is shown as the measurement of output and income for the economy of a country. COVID-19, which gave every economy an economic shock and health shock, is not unknown. It has resulted in
inging fear and changed attitudes of people. The style of working and involvement of crowds has affected the competitive position of many developed economies.
It has created uncertainty over international relations with China for coming years. If history of US is searched then one Great Depression until now, which lasted from 1929 to 1941 is found. It was the longest, which was responsible for wiping out the wealth after the market crash in 1929. However, besides it the inactivity of Federal government was also one of the major reasons.
Existing Crisis in US
Again, the US is expected to be on the verge of economic depression. The budget meltdowns are indicative, failing of businesses and others are shrinking and the health system is shaken by pandemic (The New York Times). It is not easy to witness such economic activities going normal within a short span of time without leaving traces of crisis.
