Simple Supply Chain
Not Just the Company...
• Logistics may include an integrated flow of
materials through several companies.
• The interdependence of the company, its
customers and suppliers requires synergy
etween those inside the company and
those outside the company.
Structural Issues
• Specific conditions for how products,
distribution, production and supply of
materials should be designed
• ‘Creating the structures’
– Example: Who are the suppliers? How do
deliveries take place? Are products stored or
distributed?
Control Issues
• Related to planning and
implementation of the
efficient flow of
materials amongst
existing structures.
– Example: Initiating the
transportation of
materials
