What is organizational development?
Organizational development is the plan by the leaders to increase the productivity of the company and the employees. The plan should include how to make the organization safe for the employees that could consist of the improvements of both procedural and structural areas of the company, putting ideas into place to increase productivity, plans to make things run smoother and the ability to new changes (Ionescu and BolcaÅŸ, 2019).
How does it relate to organizational effectiveness?
Organizational effectiveness is based upon many factors that include the organizational development plan, hiring employees, and leaders as wells as the implementation of a good performance management strategy. Not having the right employees and leaders working in for the company could lead to the overall success of the company. Wrong employees or leaders are less likely to give their full 100% to the company and do the bare minimum. Those types of employees are not going to be helpful in the company striving to achieve goals (Ionescu and BolcaÅŸ, 2019).
Why is it necessary for a performance management strategy to support both development and effectiveness within an organization?
Not having an excellent overall organizational development plan in place will not keep the employees on track with the company's vision, mission, and goal achievement. Performance management strategy is a big part of leaders taking time to sit down one on one with each employee of the company to go over that employee's performance over a specific timeline and what the employee can do to improve their performance.

What is organizational development?
Organizations are made up of people with a goal or mission to accomplish. In Air Force Contracting, this means meeting external Mission Partner requirements. Our office is made up of military and civilian contracting professionals with hundreds of like organizations across the globe. Organizational development is simply how leaders increase the effectiveness of the organization by getting the most out of their employees. Organizational development focuses on employees, developing goals that challenge and develop employees, and increase the productivity of the organization (Phiphadkusolkul, 2012).
How does it relate to organizational effectiveness?
Organizational effectiveness starts with the leadership as they are the ones making the hiring decisions and implementing processes and procedures that align to not only individual but organizational goals. Through an effective performance management system starting from the creation of employee contribution plans, to accomplishing continuous feedback, to an effective performance appraisal system, leaders can help meet its goals. To help set the stage, I set my expectations to every new employee and one of the areas I stress is taking ownership. If every employee knows how their efforts contribute to the organizations goals and they take ownership, the effectiveness of the organization will be improved. Additionally, through an effective performance and reward system, it helps prevent employees from underperforming.
Why is it necessary for a performance management strategy to support both development and effectiveness within an organization?
Effective performance strategy is important to help develop employees, because as I have stated many times, without people, an organization cannot accomplish their mission. Schraeder & Jordan XXXXXXXXXXdiscussed the importance of improving employee performance highlighting it is their performance that helps organizations achieve their goals. Therefore, in my experience, if we, as leaders, take care of our employees and show we care, they will take care of the mission ensuring mission success.
