Introduction
Alice walker is one of the most influential and world-famous writer and activist, belonging form the African American society. She is best known for her contribution to the civil rights and feminists movements.  She was born on February 9. 1944 and is one of the most prolific modern writers. She is the youngest among the eight children to her parents. She belonged from a poor family with her father being a sharecropper and her mother working as maid to support the family (Griffiths, 293-300). To keep her safe from the regional traditions to work in the fields her mother enrolled her to a fist grade school at the age of four. At the age of eight walkers was shot in the eye with a bb gun while playing with her brother. This made her conscious and moved to a solitary world where she wrote books. This had a permanent impact on her and the way she saw the work and are feelings of kinship and feelings about how people feel empathy. 
Works of Alice Walker
The most memorable work of hers is the novel “the colour purple” which won both the national book award and the Pulitzer Prize.
