The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an effort by the NASBA and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), which aims to provide the title of the qualified accountant in the numerous countries in the world of English speaking. It is equally equivalent to the Chartered Accountants in the other English speaking countries. The previous name of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) was the National Association of Cost Accountants, which later changed to IMA in 1957 (Institute of Management Accountants, 2020).
